VINTAGE & TRADITIONAL
RODS, REELS & ACCESSORIES BOUGHT, SOLD & EXCHANGED.
Since retiring from Davis Tackle in 2004, I have continued to trade in traditional and vintage tackle on the Internet and by mail-order. However, I dislike the impersonal and time-wasting nature of doing business by email so, if you would like to discuss your requirements (or sell an item of vintage tackle), please ’phone me. If you are in the Dorset, Hampshire or Wiltshire area and would prefer to do business face-to-face, please ’phone to arrange
a meeting.
After many years in the tackle trade I became bored with the modern trends in mass-produced tackle and “catch ’em at all costs” methods & baits. While I appreciate some significant advances in modern equipment, particularly fly rods & reels*, I miss the uncomplicated days of my childhood when anglers pitted their wits against the fish without the high-tech paraphernalia promoted by the media and tackle trade of today. Although I marvel at
the excellent quality and value of modern mass-produced rods & reels from the Far East, they have no character, no soul! Perhaps I am just a silly old fool?
*Ironically, I continue to use and market modern high quality fly tackle as part of my saltwater tackle & holidays business Bonefish Adventure, but the high-tech rods, reels & lines we use are essential tools in the rugged and highly corrosive environment of saltwater fly fishing.
Most items for sale on this website are good quality, usable and either collectable or recent-but-traditional. There are also some good quality modern items which I am clearing at reduced prices.
Once
ordered and paid for, most items are sent out immediately so you could be fondling that lovely old rod or reel tomorrow!
