HOLIDAY PHOTOS & NEWS
ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS, WINTER '99
This Winter, our groups included Peter ("Doc") & Carol Goodwin (their second time with us), Peter Rostant (4th time!), Dudley Barker, Jack Swift, Mark & Ursula Linton, Mike Dinan,
Clive, Colin & Margaret Finnis, Graham Stephens, Trevor Ashton, Malcolm Morris and Nicholas Preston.
Apart from our "regulars" none had ever seen a bonefish before this trip but they all soon caught their first bone, mostly in their first day or two with us.
Most notable were Jack Swift (81 years young) who landed three bones on his old Shakespeare trout rod, and novice fly angler Mike Dinan who took to bonefishing like a duck to water - he caught his first bone within hours of getting off the plane and continued to catch until his 6th day when a strong North wind "chilled" the water teperature to 70F and only BfG got lucky with a couple of bones! However, Mike finished his week in style by calling in at Rainbow Beach
(the same spot he caught his first fish) while on his way back to the airport and landed a five pounder! ............

Sunday, 21st November 1999:
Start of the first week, Pete, Dud & Jack arrived to join BfG, Doc & Carol who flew in the day before

Friday, 26th November 1999:
Mike Dinan arrives on the midday Eagle flight and catches his first bone on the way to Rainbow Inn.....

Saturday, 27th November 1999:

Sunday, 28th November 1999:

Saturday 4th December 1999
Thus the first two weeks ended, BfG and his team departed to cooler climes and BfC arrives with the other members of the "C Team", Clive, Colin & Margaret together with "Red Spinners" Graham Stevens & Trevor Ashton.....

Graham S (pictured) and Trevor both landed baby bones at the Airport Flat within minutes of getting off the plane! Trevor went on to land bigger bones of 3lb and 4lb later in the day but we are still awaiting the photographic evidence!

Saturday 11th December 1999
Graham & Trevor depart, substitutes Malcolm & Nick arrive but to judge by the photos, too much drinking and too little fishing took place.....

For those who are interested in statistics:
During the first weeks when BfG was guiding, "Doc" landed 10 bones to 3lb, Pete caught 2 to 3½lb, Dudley 6 to 3½lb, Jack 3 to 3½lb, Mike 9 to 5lb, Mark 13 to 2½lb and BfG 17 to 4½lb.
Mark caught the most bonefish and broke the most rods in any one week! Mike did pretty good by catching the biggest but broke only one rod and stupidly ruined his new camera by lending it to BfG who dropped it in the sea!
During the final two weeks, BfC caught 11 including 3 of 4lb, Clive caught 18 to 4½lb, Colin 2 fish of "modest" proportions, Graham Stephens 5 to 3¾lb, Trevor 5 to 4lb, Malcolm 3 to 4½lb and Nick just one at over 3lb (but deserved more)
Total numbers: 105 bonefish averaging nearly 3lb and everyone caught!
BfG had the most flat tyres, including 3 punctures in one day!
