Well made 10½ft three piece split cane bottom rod with bronzed brass splint-end suction ferrules with brass spigots, 18" cork covered wooden handle, brass sliding winch fittings, matching handle shoulder, tapered threaded butt cap with brass screw fitted, low Bells guides with agate butt ring and Aqualite lined end ring. Similar style to Allcock Wizard but slightly shorter and lighter. Complete with partitioned cloth bag (tatty). Good useable condition, suitable for float or light legering...

B James & Son (“London, England”) “RICHARD WALKER MkIV AVON” (circa 1956/57)

Early 10ft two piece split cane Avon with 25" full cork handle with "onion" end, aluminium sliding winch fittings, small aluminium shoulder collar, tapered butt cap and red rubber button with reinforced brass splint end suction ferrules. This lovely straight rod has been tastefully refurbished with agate butt & tip guides, chrome low cradle intermediates, hook keeper and all whippings, but retaining the original handle, handle fittings, ferrule and maker's transfers. Intermediate whippings are spaced at approximately every inch. It is in excellent condition throughout...

B James & Son (“Ealing, London”) “RICHARD WALKER MkIV AVON” (circa early 1950s)

Rare “Ealing” 10ft two piece split cane Avon rod with 25" full cork handle with "trumpet" end, aluminium sliding winch fittings (slightly tarnished), stepped aluminium shoulder collar, tapered aluminium butt cap, red rubber button, bronzed brass reinforced splint end suction ferrule (with spigot), rosewood ferrule stopper, keeper ring, clear agate lined butt & tip guides with chromed low cradle intermediates, close whipped with maroon silk. Everything appears original. The cane is a lovely dark colour, probably by Bob Southwell. Excellent condition except for slightly tarnished reel fittings and (like its present owner) a slight droop consistent with age and (unlike its present owner) having caught many large fish! However, the set is not nearly as bad as it appears in the photos (the present owner being an even less competent photographer than he is an angler)...

Norcro (Fordingbridge, Hants) “CROFTER MkIV AVON” (circa 1980)

10ft two piece split cane Avon. 28" full cork handle with aluminium sliding winch fittings, tapered butt cap with screw-in rubber button, reinforced bronzed brass splint end suction ferrulesand rubber ferrule bung. This excellent rod, built by famous rod-builder Tony Croft, has been lovingly refurbished with agate butt & tip guides, chromed low cradle intermediates, hook keeper and crimson whippings, but retaining the original handle, handle fittings, ferrule, maker's transfers & script (which reads  “The Crofter Series RAPHONA CANE Mk.IV Avon” followed by: “A.W.Croft  Guild of Master Craftsmen”). Excellent condition throughout...
